I arrived at the prison bright eyed and bushy tailed, got my work on when all of a sudden I smelled something putrid. I scrunched my nose, wondered if I should be alarmed but thought, "I'm at a prison. It always smells here."

The smell gradually got worse, the lights flickered, then died, I looked up at the sky light and saw smoke. The CO's then told us to evacuate the building.

We stood outside for almost two hours. I managed to make a couple phone calls to view some apartments, and of course to inform HQ.

"Hey, there's a fire of some sort, we had to evacuate the building."

"Oh no! E-dog [G'rilla's nick name for me, I think it's funny, considering I'm a petite, 5'3 woman, and I am not ruffian like] Come back to the office!"

"I can't. I've got all my files in the building, I can't just leave them."

"What do you mean you've got all your files in there. You just left them?"

"Is there an echo? Well, it was either evacuate the building asap, or, get fined."

"Right...right."

I don't know why I even called in.

Needless to say, I'm alright. We were allowed back in after numerous head counts. I was way behind in my work, but felt too disoriented to accomplish anything.

I'm very hungry right now and it seems the only thing edible in this apartment is coffee fudge ice cream.
